Who is breathing space therapies ?

The fact that Breathing Space Therapies exists is testament to the techniques we share with our clients. Annie Lawler, Owner and Director of Breathing Space Therapies, is passionate about helping people deal with stress in their lives more positively and effectively, especially when they find themselves facing particularly challenging points in their lives.

Having worked in competitive business environments for over 20 years, achieving Board level status, and having worked through some challenging times herself, Annie decided to train in stress management initially for her own benefit. Six months into the training, she found the benefits of the techniques she was learning so life-changing and positive, that she decided this was the career she wanted to be in. Subsequently, having qualified with a distinction in stress management, she also trained in deep tissue and Shiatsu massage, hypnotherapy, EFT and Reiki. She continues to study areas such as kinesiology, psychotherapy and numerous other therapies and concepts which help her clients’ and her own development. This means she can tailor treatment plans for each individual client.

Says Annie, “What I have learned and put into practice over the past 5 years or so has become a life quest for me. It has opened up such new avenues for me and turned my life completely on its head.

I was as big a sceptic as anyone when I started to study some of these techniques. Some of it is so easy and so obvious, I found it hard to believe they could work. I chose however to be open to it and just to see what was in it all for me. What I discover now every day, means life has become an adventure and something which is highly beneficial in all aspects of my life.

My dearest wish is to be able to share these positive and proven techniques with as many people as possible so that they too can share the benefits of positive living and start to live the life they truly wish for and deserve.


Annie found that, during her own work, at least 50% of the benefit of any therapy, coaching or mentoring comes from standing back and taking stock. Having an objective figure who can provide support during this time is invaluable and can give new perspectives on seemingly impossible situations.

Our conditioning these days is to be on the go 24/7 and it’s great to lead a full and exciting life. However, when we lose the art of standing back and ‘taking a deep breath’, we often also lose perspective and balance in our lives until we start to become ill or unhappy – or both!

Without pause for thought and stops to refuel, we can’t possibly perform and enjoy life at our optimum levels. We wouldn’t expect our cars to run at full pelt without stops for re-fuelling and rest, so why would we treat ourselves any differently?

Annie feels (and research supports) the fact that there is a real need for people to stop and take a look at their lives every so often, so they have a chance to assess if they are where they want to be and if they’re as happy, healthy and fulfilled as they can be. If not, perhaps there are changes that need to be made.
